About the Author

Lisa Brown is the author of In Good Hands: A Guide to Planning and Protecting Your Pet’s Future, a practical handbook designed to help pet owners prepare for emergencies, incapacity, and future care needs.

A lifelong animal owner, Lisa has shared her life with dogs, cats, horses, and more than a few chickens. After retiring from a career in Information Technology, she worked in a small-animal veterinary practice, supporting both the front office and clinical team.

Her experience in the veterinary practice reinforced something she had long believed: many devoted pet owners worry about their animals’ future but never create a clear plan for it.

Why I Created In Good Hands

It’s a question that quietly worries many pet owners, but one that is rarely addressed. We plan carefully for many parts of life, yet even devoted pet owners often leave their animals’ future care to informal arrangements or unspoken assumptions.

In Good Hands grew from a simple belief: if pets are truly part of our families, their future care deserves the same thought and preparation we give to other important responsibilities in our lives.

My goal was to create a practical way to turn that concern into a clear, usable plan—one that helps ensure pets remain safe, cared for, and surrounded by people who understand their needs.
